His mother came up with the decision to give birth to her child only through IVF after her firstborn son Nevada Alexander Musk (Damian’s oldest brother) died. He was only 10-week old when the tragedy happened. She opened up about the decision in the article she wrote for Marieclaire.com,

 “I buried my feelings instead, coping with Nevada’s death by making my first visit to an IVF clinic less than two months later. Elon and I planned to get pregnant again as swiftly as possible.”

Within the next five years, the then-married couple successfully became parents of five kids.

How Many Siblings Does Damian Have?

As we have mentioned earlier that Damian is one of the trio brothers of triplets that include Saxon and Kai Musk. Furthermore, Musk also has twin older brothers named Griffin and Xavier. They were too conceived through in vitro fertilization in 2004.

Also, Damian has a half-brother named X Æ A-Xii born in May 2020 from his father’s relationship with Canadian musician Grimes.

How Did His Brother Die?

It was back in 2002 when Damian’s parents had to go through a terrific family tragedy when they lost their infant baby Nevada. He was merely 10-week old at that time.

Justin wrote in her earlier mentioned article that her baby was in sleep when he suddenly stopped breathing. By the time they managed paramedics to resuscitate him, he had already gone for too long without oxygen and was brain-dead. They soon took him on life support in a hospital in Orange Country, where Nevada spent three days until his parents take him off it.

As for the reason behind his death, it was SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).

Education: Where does Damian Musk go to school?

Talking about the school life of Damian, it is rather different than what other teens go to. While your average teen goes to a local high school, Damian here studies at the school which is owned by his own dad.

Damian Musk is now at Ad Astra, an innovative school co-funded by his father Musk and a former teacher named Joshua Dahn in 2014. Musk opened it to educate his own children and some children of SpaceX employees.

And his is main motive to start such a different educational system is to teach kids based on their own aptitudes. In 2015, the billionaire said in his interview in Beijing, China,

“Indeed, there are no qualifications, instead of treating the school as an assembly line, I think it makes more sense to attend to education to match your skills and student abilities.”

In the same talk, Elon explained that he doesn’t like the separation of children based on their age. Thus, at his own school, the students who range from the age of 7 to 20 are never separated based on their age.

Further talking about his kids’ education, Elon said in a live interview on the audio app Clubhouse that his kids, “were mostly educated by YouTube and Reddit.”

As for Ad Astra’s curriculum, the school is heavy on courses in Artificial Intelligence, design, and coding. Music and sports are, however, will not see at the school. As of 2022, the pupils at the school are reportedly more than 40

Ad Astra was first built in the actor Gene Wilder‘s former estate, located in the Bel-Air, Los Angeles. But, in October 2020, Musk sold the property. So, as of now, it is a little bit unclear where the school is exactly located.

He Loves to Play Piano

Damian Musk is pretty much into a piano. The fact about his interest in piano made in the media after the Twitter user named Kristennetten posted a video of Damian playing piano for the elderly in Feb 2021. However, Kirsten mistakenly wrote that Saxon was playing the musical instrument. And later on, Elon responded to the video and said that it was actually Damian.

Damian Musk Parents’ Shared an Equal Custody of Their Five Children

His parents Elon and Justin met for the first time when both of them were at the college. At the time of their first meeting, Justin was only 18, whereas, Musk was 19.

Justin once said that Musk was after her and would ask her for out multiple times. But, she always would say no. It went on until they ended up living together in an apartment in the Bay Area which they shared with three other roommates.
