Her winning title included the 50th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis, and also the season-ending Automobile Club of Southern California.

“It’s great for her that she gets that win and gets that out of the way,” John said. “I’m a little disappointed that my car didn’t run a little bit better.

Ashley Faced Tragedy In Her Early Career

In the year 2007, when Ashley Force Hood had just started her professional sports career, she lost her teammate and a very close friend Eric Medlen, a rising star in NHRA. He died of a massive head injury in a testing accident. Regarding the tragedy, she said,

“It changed everything for me, “I had never lost anyone that close to me. Eric was so much more than a teammate. He was like my brother.

“We grew up together. He had dinner with us on Thanksgiving and Christmas. So you can’t prepare for something that this or how you’ll get through it.”

Though it was the most tragic moment for her, she accepted this tragedy and learned a life lesson.

She is married to the parts manager of the Castrol GTX Funny Car Team, Daniel Hood. They walked down the aisle on December 13, 2008, in Lake Tahoe, Sierra Nevada.
