Popular Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy has said that Nigeria did not originate neither do they own the music genre known as Afrobeats.

According to him, the world always associates Nigerian music with Afrobeats even though they are wrong to believe that it was created and is only found in Nigeria.

Stonebwoy stated this during a chat on Pulse One on One, where he opened up about his music and the Ghanaian music industry.

The interview asked the singer where he thinks Ghanian music has reached on the global industry scale and he said that it is still riding on the waves of Nigerian music.

He further said that though the world thinks the origin of Afrobeats is Nigeria, he knows that is not true.

In other news, Ghanaian rapper and dancehall star, Shatta Wale stirred reactions with his recent comment about Nigerian musicians.

The artiste said that Nigerians are too smart when it comes to doing business and it reflects in the music industry.

According to Shatta, they prefer taking the music business more seriously than to fight or get into beefs which is what happens in Ghana.

Speaking in a recent interview, the controversial singer said Nigerian singers hardly compete over superiority and they do not sing about feuds, rather, their songs dwell on love, enjoyment and other niceties.

He stressed that Nigerians do music whereas Ghanaian artistes compete with music. He also talked about how entertainers in his country refer to themselves as King, and he used the opportunity to throw a jab at his colleague, Stonebwoy who calls himself 1Gad.
