The All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that its presidential ticket for 2023 would not be handed over on a silver platter to any candidate.

Yekini Nabena, the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, said this in response to Bola Tinubu, the party’s National Leader, publicly declaring his intention to run for President in 2023. Tinubu paid a visit to President Buhari at the statehouse on Monday, January 10, to advise him of his desire to run for President in 2023.

In response to Tinubu’s declaration, Nabena said:

“The APC will not give any of its members’ presidential ticket on a platter of gold. There are procedures so he (Tinubu) should continue consulting.

The APC is not a come-and-take party. He should consult even those contesting with him.

So consultations should continue and whoever emerges at the primaries will be the party’s presidential candidate for 2023”

In other news, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, has issued a public warning about a “fake news” item spreading on social media purporting to be made by her.

According to the ‘fake news’, former Nigeria’s Minister of Finance had commended President Buhari for “doing marvelously well unlike his predecessor Goodluck Jonathan, who was overpowered by the Governor’s Forum”

Okonjo-Iweala issued a caution to individuals spreading fake news in a message released on her official social media channels on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.

“Please be aware: This is one of the periodic pieces of information circulated about me which I absolutely did not initiate. Those proliferating fake news, be warned” she stated.
