Takoradi Lady Granted GHC 50K Bail After Pleading Not Guilty In Court, Case Adjourned To October 14

We made a report about the Takoradi lady who has been in the news for faking a pregnancy and her own kidnapping pleading not guilty in court.

She appeared before a Takoradi Circuit Court on Monday as two charges have been levelled against her by the police.

The court proceedings were presided over by his honour Michael Cudjoe Ampadu and after pleading not guilty, she was granted a GHC50,000 bail with two sureties to be justified.

During his briefing in court, the Western Regional head of prosecutions and legal affairs at the police command, Superintendent Emmanuel Basintale stated that police investigations suggest that the number used by the supposed kidnappers were registered in the name of the accused name Josephine Panyin Mensah Simons.

Additionally, he indicated that the prosthetics the lady wore to pretend that she was pregnant were purchased at Takoradi Market Circle adding that the lady visited the Takoradi hospital last year was on the 11th of September.

She reportedly went to the hospital with lower abdominal pains and she was treated for pelvic inflammatory disease.

Although she has visited the facility four different times, she had no records showing that she came there for antenatal care.

Per a report by Starr FM, Josephine Panyin Mensah was represented in court by five lawyers who are doing pro bono for her.

After the briefing by the police, the lead counsel for Josephine’s legal team, Lawyer Philip Fiifi Buckman in his submission asked the court to grant his client bail for the fact that the charges levelled against Josephine were not serious offences. His plea was heard as the presiding judge granted her bail with the case adjourned to October 14.
