Staff at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH, took to the streets on Friday to commemorate the departure of Prof. Edward Banwat, the hospital’s Chief Medical Director (CMD), whose eight-year term officially ended on December 31, 2021.

The former CMD’s reign was regarded as a “evil age” by the staff, who displayed placards with varied inscriptions, and the guy himself as a “heartless, stone cold tyrant.”

Banwat ceased paying Christmas bonuses to JUTH employees, according to JOHESU Secretary Comrade David Atu, and staff welfare was never prioritized during his term.

He claims that they have not been paid their salaries, that the hospital is out of supplies, and that the MRI and CT scan machines are both broken.

Patients are frequently referred to Bauchi, according to Atu.
