Police Warns Prophets Over 31st Dec Prophecies

The Ghana Police service has issued a warning to all religious leaders in Ghana over their utterances and the way they communicate their prophecies ahead of New Year Eve’s services.

In a statement released by the Ghana Police service, the police stated that it was a crime for a person to publish or spread rumors which is likely to cause fear and panic or disturb the peace of the country.

The statement read…

“We want to caution that under Ghanaian law, it is a crime for a person to publish or reproduce a statement, rumor or report which is likely to cause fear and alarm to the public or to disturb the public peace, where that person has no evidence to prove that the statement, rumor or report is true,” the police warned in a statement issued on Monday, December 27.

“It is also a crime for a person, by means of electronic communications service, to knowingly send a communication that is false or misleading and likely to prejudice the efficiency of life-saving service or to endanger the safety of any person,” the statement signed by Superintendent Alexander Obeng, the Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, added.

“A person found guilty under these laws could be liable to a term of imprisonment of up to five years.”

This caution from the police comes after the man of God Jesus Ahuofe and dancehall artist Shatta Wale were arrested for causing fear and panic. Jesus Ahuofe prophesized that the dancehall artist Shatta Wale will be shot dead in the month of October.

The artist on the said day planned with his team and played a prank on Ghanaians which caused fear and panic in the country. The two were later arrested and araigned fo court for causing fear and panic in the country. The next sitting on the case of Shatta Wale has been postponed to January.
