Mike Omoruyi, a Nollywood actor, was apprehended by the Delta State Police Rapid Response Squad for illegally possessing weapons used in film production.

The 38-year-old movie star was detained on June 15 after a search along Obiaruku/Umuedu route in Ethiope East LGA of the state, according to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe.

According to Edafe, he was found with one Lar rifle without a magazine, one fake AK-47 rifle, one Air rifle, one Pump action, one English double barrel gun, and two toy firearms.

However, Edafe revealed that after further investigation, it was discovered that the actor actually hired the weapons for N50,000 from a 57-year-old Chief Otuya Josiah of the Umuedu community, adding that the chief confessed to renting out the weapons to him and that further investigations were underway.
