On Wednesday, 16th December, the President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) ordered the immediate reopening of four land borders.

Since August 2019, the land borders has been closed to reduce illegal importation of drugs, small arms and agricultural products into the country from neighbouring countries.

However, the minister disclosed its reopening after a Federal Executive Council meeting. The Seme Border in Lagos State, Illela Border in Sokoto State, Maigatari Border in Jigawa State, and Mfun Border in Cross River State will be reopened.

After its closure had caused monumental losses of jobs and businesses! I have asked and not got any response as to the gains derived from the closure of these borders.
