Following the attacks of bandits in detonating explosives on the lines feeding the Abuja-Kaduna line, the Nigerian Railway Corporation has halted operations.
Passengers were traumatized by the incident, which occurred between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, with allegations that the perpetrators even sprayed live rounds into driver cabins.
Recall that the former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani has corroborated the incident as he described how he nearly escaped death after terrorists attacked the Kaduna Abuja railway he was onboard with an explosive.
Bandits attacks are on the rise and Shehu Sani has advised Nigerians to look out for themselves as the bandits are on the loose trying to kidnap people.
According to Sani, he escaped the plot of bandits when the driver of the train he was travelling in run over some explosives planted on the railways by bandits.
He wrote: yesterday,terrorists attacked the Kaduna Abuja railway with an explosive & opened fire on the train,targeting the Engine Driver & the Tank.This morning,I was on board when our train ran over another explosive-damaged rail.
In the wake of the attacks, the Nigerian Railway Corporation has decided to halt operations on the Kaduna to Abuja route.
Sequel to that, the Nigerian Railway Corporation released a statement on its website, on Thursday afternoon as they informed Nigerians that the operations have been suspended till further notice.
The statement read: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, train services have been immediately suspended for the safety of our dear passengers.
“Efforts are in place to restore service. Further information would follow immediately service is restored,”
