Milovan Rajevac has returned to train the Black Stars for the second time having been in charge of the West African giants 13-years ago.

Following Charles Kwablan Akonnor’s dismissal on September 14, 2021, a three-member committee was appointed and tasked with finding the country a new manager and the onus fell on the Serbian to lead the four-times African Nations Cup winners to the Mundial.

Milovan has been tasked to qualify the team to its 4th World Cup appearance after missing out in the last edition, having appeared at the global showpiece for three years in a row starting from Germany 2006.

Otto Addo, Dortmund’s assistant coach, and Maxwell Konadu will assist Rajevac. In addition, Richard Kingson has been reappointed as the new goalkeepers’ trainer.

“Coaching is a very important part of the football ecosystem, and the GFA Executive Council takes coaching very seriously,” said Kurt Okraku, President of the GFA.

“The new technical team will include a head coach and two assistant coaches. Both of the assistants are Ghanaians.”

The 67-year-old Serbian previously led the Ghana national team to the CHAN final in 2009, the AFCON final in 2010, and the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals in 2010. During his two-year stint in Ghana, he led the team in 28 games, winning 12, losing 11, and drawing 5.

His immediate assignment will be to defeat Zimbabwe in the World Cup qualifiers doubleheader and qualify the team for the World Cup in 2022.
