Lekkzy Young sets record as first Afrobeats artiste to go Platinum in Spain

Afrobeats singer, Lekkzy Young has made history by becoming the first Nigerian artiste to get a Platinum certification in Spain.

He beat the likes of Wizkid, Burna Boy and Davido to achieve the feat, which saw him receive a plaque for his song, ‘Like That’.

This also means that he is the first African Afrobeats artiste to hold such a record. A song is usually certified Platinum in Spain after selling 500,000 copies in the country.

Lekkzy took to his official Instagram page to celebrate the development as he thanked fans for their love and show of support.

He shared photos and videos of him holding the plaque and jubilating.

In similar news, budding singer, Chukwuka Ekweani, popularly known as CKay, has yet again made history by becoming the highest charting Nigerian artiste in terms of streaming.

The artiste’s hit single, Love Nwantiti released in 2019, just peaked at the top spot on Spotify Worldwide.

It is the Most-Streamed Nigerian Song ever on the global streaming platform with a total of 537 million streams.

CKay took to his Twitter account to react to the development by expressing gratitude, and announcing that his album will soon drop.

He shared a snapshot of the Spotify streaming chat with the remix of Love Nwantiti also coming second with a total of 427 million streams.

The third song on the chart is Burna Boy’s 2018 song, On the Low with a total of 169 million.

Sharing the photo, CKay wrote; ”Grateful ?? Album real soon ?”
