Lawyers move to stop human rights lawyer from appearing in juju priest attire
Members of the legal profession have made a case for human rights lawyer, Malcom Omoirhobo, to be stopped from appearing in a traditional regalia during court proceedings.
The barrister stormed Federal high court in Abuja today, June 28 in continuation of him exercising his right to openly express his religious beliefs.
However, when his case was mentioned, the presiding Judge, Tijani Ringim, queried his mode of appearance, and asked him to pick a date to tell the court his justification for dressing in that manner.
Meanwhile, a Lagos -based lawyer, Abdullai Tony Dania also opposed Omoirhobo’s mode of appearance, and he was joined by two other legal practitioners, Festus Afeidyon and Mohammed Adams who said it was an attempt to ridicule the legal profession.
A video from the court room which captured the drama that ensued has surfaced on the internet.
