It was wrong of Peter Obi to leave money behind after serving as governor – Ex-minister
Former Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, has faulted Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate for leaving behind a huge sum of money after his tenure as governor of Anambra state.
He spoke in an interview with Daily Trust-owned Television station, Trust TV, adding that Obi is not a banker, hence why he had no business saving money for the state.
Shittu went on to accuse the former PDP Vice-presidential candidate of investing the state funds in his own private businesses.
”He left behind the government money that he had invested in his private company.
If you talk of somebody leaving money, was he supposed to leave money? Is he a banker or is he a bank? Was the money for safekeeping?” he said.
Speaking further, the ex-minister said the All Progressives Congress (APC), presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, just like “any person around” is healthy and strong.
He stated that governing the nation as a president does not require physical labour.
This comes amid concerns about the health of Tinubu, as Nigerians have expressed worry as to whether he will be able to handle the rigours of office as president.
The former minister said apart from good health, Nigerians need a candidate who is qualified and experienced, credentials of which he claims Tinubu possesses.
“It is not about age, to be a president is not about labour.
“It is not about physical labour. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is healthy and strong as any person around. If a Mr Jack or you are whatever… I mean, is that all the presidency requires by way of qualification?
“You need sound education, you need experience, exposure and of course you also need good health,” he said.
Shittu further boasted that Atiku Abubakar of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is no match for Tinubu in the north-east.
“The north-east where Atiku comes from, Atiku knows that he is not a match [for Tinubu]. Has he ever headed any government? He does not have any achievements to be credited to him,” he said.
