I was scared the first time I went to meet Naira Marley – Marlian artiste, Rexxie

Nigerian singer and Marlian Music artiste, Rexxie has recounted how he met his boss, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley.

He said he was scared when he went to meet the rapper for the first time because he heard he was from the United Kingdom and he did not know anything about him.

Speaking in an interview with journalist, Adesope Olajide, the ‘Opor’ crooner said he and Kesh wanted to feature Naira Marley on a song.

According to Rexxie, he took his production system with him when they visited the Marlian President and they recorded multiple songs in one day.

He explained that Naira called him back and that was how he was welcomed to the Marlian Music family.

Rexxie said the ‘Tesumole’ crooner believed in him at the time and that is what helped him to become the artiste people know today.

In other news, Nigerian music superstar, David Adeleke known professionally as Davido, has shared his thoughts on who is billed to be the next Afrobeats singer that will take the world by storm.

The DMW boss was asked during an interview to mention the artiste he believes will be the next big person in Afrobeats.

Davido said it was hard mentioning one person because there are many of them who are currently doing great in the genre.

He, however, started by calling Naira Marley, saying that his story of moving back to Nigeria from UK and starting the Marlian movement is amazing.

Omo Baba Olowo went on to mention buzzing producers turned singers, Young John and Pheelz who both have smash hit singles in the past one year.

He said that this is the year of the producers and he is glad they are also getting to shine as artistes.

Davido added that Afrobeats is making so much of an impact that international record labels and coming to Africa and Nigeria in particular, to pick up talents.
