Atiku paid a courtesy call on Wilke on Tuesday, and the two have been deliberating on how they can move the PDP party forward.

Atiku engaged journalists on Thursday as he revealed that he was in Port Harcourt to reconcile with Wike and see them return to power in 2023.

Atiku said: ” I came here to reconcile with the governor on party affairs and how we can ensure that there is unity and stability in the party so that we can take over the government in 2023.

“I believe Nigerians can’t wait for 2023 to come, so that PDP will return.”

In other news, Nyesom Wike, urged President, Muhammadu Buhari to revoke the candidacy of Ms. Lauretta Onochie as national commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Following the controversy that Ms. Lauretta Onochie is a staunch member of the APC, several calls have been made to the presidency to withdraw Onochie from the list of available candidates.

Wike said: “For goodness sake, the nomination and desperation of President Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC)-controlled National Assembly to foist an invalid Ms. Lauretta Onochie on Nigerians as INEC’s national Commissioner is a bad omen for our democracy.

“By any standards, the most fundamental consideration against the appointment of an electoral umpire in a democracy is the likelihood of bias, which in this case, is heavily weighted against Ms. Onochie, as a notorious and repulsively partisan dye-in-the-wool member of the APC.
