A Nigerian man has shared a video of him making a mockery of a police officer who apparently could not read.

He revealed that the officer stopped his car at a checkpoint and asked for the vehicle’s valid documents.

He accidentally gave the policeman his boy’s school papers in place of the necessary documents but the security personnel could not tell.

In the video the young man posted, the officer could be seen glancing through the papers as if he was crosschecking that they were up to date.

The motorist laughed at him for not realising that he was holding school papers. He said that after five minutes of reading through, the policeman handed the paper back to him and allowed him to go.

Meanwhile CorrectNG earlier reported that the Nigeria Police Force have dismissed Opeyemi Kadiri, a police corporal, who was captured in a recent viral video assaulting a young man in Lagos State.

In the footage, the armed officer was having an exchange with the victim who challenged him for forcefully searching his phone.

A statement released by Force Spokesperson, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Friday, said Opeyemi was dismissed after an orderly room trial at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The statement said: “The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed Force No. 509745 Corporal Opeyemi Kadiri attached to Dolphin Divisional Headquarters, Lagos Police Command for gross misconduct, disobedience to lawful order, and assault on a member of the public captured in a viral video on August 3, 2022.

The dismissed officer who, enlisted into the Force on 6th December, 2016, was caught searching a commuter’s phone by the road side contrary to the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, fdc, to that effect.

He equally assaulted the commuter who attempted to bring the order to his notice. His dismissal takes effect from today the 12th of August, 2022.

The Police hereby calls on officers and men of the Force to maintain professionalism and civility to members of the public in the discharge of their duties in line with extant laws.”

In August, the victim was heading for a photoshoot with friends when police stopped his car and demanded to see his phone.

He declined handing the device over to the police officer but the security personnel then collected it by force.

The man began to record the officer with his second phone while repeating the statement by the Inspector general of police that no officer is meant to check citizen’s phones.

The policeman then got physical with him and threatened to break the second phone.
