I don’t like how artistes’ brag about superiority – Singer, CKay

Budding Nigerian singer-songwriter, Chukwuka Ekweani, has said that he doesn’t subscribe to the idea of Afrobeats artistes bragging about being better than their colleagues.

He said all Nigerian musicians would forge ahead more in their careers if there is collective support for one another rather than doing comparisons.

CKay stated this in a recent interview on VICE while talking about his music, the influence and spread of Afrobeats in the global scene.

The ‘Love Nwantiti’ said that genre is the new pop and the culture can grow to be bigger than it is today the same way Hip Hop culture grew.

In other entertainment news, Canadian rapper, Drake has showered accolades on his former record label boss, Lil Wayne for being supportive during the start of his career.

He paid tribute to Wayne and other members of Young Money Entertainment at the 2022 edition of OVO Fest on Saturday, August 6th, 2022.

Drake recalled how Lil Wayne supported him and his mother with $30,000 at he start of his music career and he appreciated the Young Money founder for the gesture which he described as the most important money he’s ever received in his life.

The Grammy-winning singer got emotional on stage after Wizzy performed his hit tracks such as Mrs. Officer, Loyal, Steady Mobbin and A Milli.

Nicki Minaj, Drake and Wayne appeared on the stage for a half-hour set which was when he decided to appreciate Lil Wayne for the $30,000.

He told Lil Wayne; ”That’s the most important amount of money I’ve made in my life to date – you’re the most important man to each and every one of us. You are truly the most selfless man on planet earth.”
