President Muhammadu Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, has revealed the people who urged and encouraged his boss to run for president.
Nigerians persuaded and pressured Buhari to run for President, according to Shehu.
This was revealed by the presidential spokesman, who also stated that Buhari had done his best for Nigeria.
Shehu said Nigerians encouraged Buhari to run for president because he was the appropriate person at the time in an interview on Channels Television on Friday.
According to Shehu: “The president can be very casual sometimes in speaking and jovial and jocularly.
“I think this is what people fail to understand of him. They need to understand how he was persuaded and pressured to run in the first instance.
“He had served as governor, minister and military head of state and that’s the highest it could get.
“He had retired home and Nigerians came and said ‘you are the right person for this moment, we need you.’ It took some persuasion.”
