Another attack was been launched on a police station in Imo State on Tuesday by gunmen, suspects were set free and the station was set ablaze.

This comes just 24 hours after the Imo State Correctional Centre and the State Police Headquarters were attacked and inmates made to run away.

The incident took place after Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Muhammed Adamu left the State. The duo as well as the Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola were in the state to inspect the level of damage on the security facilities which were razed by fire.

On Tuesday, Ehime Mbano Local Government Area Divisional Police Headquarters was attacked and burnt down on Tuesday.

Unaccompanied by any form of investigation, the IGP, Adamu held the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and the Eastern Security Network, ESN, of carrying out the attacks. However, in a statement released by the spokesperson of the IPOB, Emma Powerful, the attack had nothing to do with them.

Confirming the recent development, John Mrabure, the acting Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service pleaded with the citizens of the state to provide reliable intel to help recapture the inmates on the run. In a statement, he disclosed that about 1,844 inmates have fled from custody.
