GEM’s FEED AN INMATE Event Slated For Oct 16

Girls Empowerment Movement (GEM) will be holding their FEED AN INMATE event and the event is slated to take place on Saturday, October 16, 2021.

The event is organized in partnership with Janesarf Development Organization, Shay Foundation, and the Nsawam Government Hospital.

The event will be held at the Nsawam Prisons and activities include Breast Cancer Education and Screening, Cervical Cancer Talk, and Donation. The program also has several sponsors and media partners including TV3, Bel-Aqua, Nestle, and Yazz.

Girls Empowerment Movement is an initiative formed on August 9, 2020, with the main purpose of making ladies especially the youth to feel a sense of belongingness especially those in unhealthy relationships with the opposite sex and also close relatives.

The movement commenced as a WhatsApp group. In September, the group has its first zoom discussion and had its press launch on January 19, 2021, with the aim of unveiling the movement to the public officially.

The founder of the organization is Ms. Awuraabena Appianimaa B. Sarpong who is a level 300 Public Relation Student at the University of Professional Studies – Accra. She is also a Public Speaker, MC & Writer.

The mission of the organization is to envision a world in which all girls regardless of race, ethnicity, social status are nurtured with so much knowledge and so empowered to reach their fullest potential.

The organization has been involved in several programs as the recent one was the one that was organized in partnership with United Way Ghana and Achievers Ghana on International Girls Day at Akronpong in the Akuapim North constituency.

The program brought girls from schools like Akropong Methodist school, Akropong SDA, Okwapiman Basic School and many other neighboring schools.
