In what will come across as a rather dramatic development, the Osun State Police Command has detained the Imam of Kamorudeen Central Mosque, Kazeem Yunus, and two other worshippers.

They were nabbed over the riot between muslims and traditional religion practitioners in Osogbo last week.

The police also arrested the son of Chief Fayemi Esuleke, Ifashola and a masquerade for allegedly attacking Muslims at their worship centre in Osogbo last Sunday.

Two others arrested on Wednesday with the Imam were Jamiu Salawudeen, Alarape Sulaimon, Saheed Akewi.

The Muslims according to sources may be charged for assault on the masquerader.

There had been reports on Tuesday of the arrest of the leader of masquerade worshippers, Chief Esuleke.

Chief Esuleke, who is also a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress in Osun Stste reportedly led the masquerade worshippers that allegedly attacked an Islamic group, Kamorudeen Society of Nigeria in Osogbo, the state capital.

It was gathered that the arrested Muslims and masquerade worshippers were invited by the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IGP-IRT) to their station in Oke-Fia and were thereafter detained.

The lawyer for the Islamic group, Hasheem Adeoye confirmed the arrest.

One person, Moshood Salawudeen, was shot dead, while about 13 persons, including children, sustained gunshot injuries during the clash.
