DR Congo: Muslims enter village, shoot three people to death in their homes, take two hostages

Three persons, including a woman, were killed in an attack by Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels on Nzenzeka village, located near Mwenda in Ruwenzori sector of Beni territory in North Kivu.

According to local sources, the attack on Sunday, Jan. 2, took place at 9 p.m. during which the victims were shot to death in their homes.

“The remains of the last victim were discovered on Tuesday, Jan. 4,” Odette Nganda, President of the Watalinga civil society revealed.

During the attack, the assailants also took two persons hostage, one of whom is a 13-year-old girl from the neighbouring Ndama village in the Watalinga chiefdom.

The Sunday attack was the latest by Ugandan rebels of the ADF carried out in Ruwenzori sector while the armies of the DR Congo and Uganda are carrying out joint military operations in the zone.
