AUN Offers 57 Chibok Schoolgirls Admission

57 of the Chibok schoolgirls who were recovered from the Boko Haram have been accepted into the American University of Nigeria (AUN) in Yola, Adamawa State.

Daniel Okereke, the university’s executive director of communications, revealed this in a statement during the school’s 2021 annual convocation and pledge event.
They were sent to AUN, which has the services and infrastructure to guide and support them through their personal rehabilitation, academic development, and gradual community re – entry, he said. He intimated that they are on a Federal Government of Nigeria scholarship under the umbrella of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs. 

He said: “The American University of Nigeria (AUN) has just held this year’s annual convocation and pledge ceremony, which included fifty-seven of the rescued Chibok Girls now young women and first-year university students,”

“They take their places among the newly matriculating students, including dozens transferring from foreign universities, particularly from the United States and other Nigerian universities.

“Many of them have indicated interest in studying law, natural and environmental sciences, accounting, entrepreneurship, business administration, communications, multimedia design and economics,”
