Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has claimed that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, are not considering the plans to pass on the presidential candidacy to an Igbo in 2023.

Uzodinma intimated that the APC does not have any preference for an Igbo president and all what they are looking out for is a Nigerian president.

He made his submission when he made an appearsnce on Channels Television.

He said: “We are not looking for an Igbo President. We are looking for a President of Nigeria. We as a party APC believe what we are practising here is partisan democracy and every politician must be loyal to his party. At the end of the day it is the decision of the party that you belong to that will matter.”

Uzodinma also shot down claims Buhari’s visit to the state meant something different for the state.

“Our people came out to receive the president who visited Imo State in solidarity with the governor of Imo State. It has nothing to do with the 2023 election or politics.

“We only received the president who came on a working visit, commissioned projects and had an interaction with us, he added.

In a related development, President Buhari recently commended the people of Imo State for the warm reception they gave him when he embarked on an official visit on Thursday 9th September 2021.

Buhari was received by a delegation of Governor Izodinma where he was taken around the state and made to cut sods for the completion of some projects.
