Achimota School Names Brilliant Dreadlocked Student, Tyrone Marhguy In Its NSMQ Team While Appealing His Admission

One of the dreadlocked guys at the center of the Achimota School brouhaha Tyrone Iras Marghuy has been named in the school’s National Science and Maths Quiz team.

This is weird considering the fact that his admission is being challenged by Achimota School and the Attorney General’s Office.

This was revealed in a recent Facebook post by Kwaku Azar who is a human rights activist. The post reads;

“Achimota has named Tyrone Iras Marhguy in its squad for the National Maths and Science Quiz for the next two years and it is in court, with the assistance of the State, seeking to kick him out of the school.
Look, our problems are simple. It is our solutions that complicate them.
Congrats, Tyrone, ignore the noise!
#SALL is the cardinal sin of the 8th Parliament.

Da Yie!”

Some reactions the post got are;

Acquaah Insaidoo – As long as Tyrone remains a student, he is entitled to all that the school provides, including representing them in competitions. This, however, does not and cannot in anyway impede the institution from taking further legal actions to clear the air on their culture. I keep saying that Tyrone has created a leak on the floodgates. We either have to fix the leak or wait for a gush out.

Philip Dzivor – Of all the problems in this country and the educational sector specific, the most pressing issue the AG want to address is to put student into trauma, finger pointing and ridicule the Rasta students already in campus. A whole state machinery and resources to put impediment in the schooling of a student due to hair style and not inability to think

George Oppong – Prof, you got it all wrong, the school and the state is not in court to kick the young man out. What the AG seeks to do is to seek the higher opinion on the subject in our legal architecture so when this brouhaha reoccurs there would be clarity on what our laws say. This is to avoid a situation where another high court may give different ruling in event it happens again. He will complete the school without any further hindrance on his way.
It for the purpose of setting precedence.
