Nigeria Music Industry has bunch of great talented musicians. From Hip Hop, to Afro Fusion to other genre of music.  Rap music which originally Hip Hop is one of the many music genre that has elevated Nigerian Music Industry.

As a result of growth, Hip Hop has seen tremendous transition with variety of rap styles to the extent of rappers raping in their native languages, which is quite was not the ideal culture of rap as it is known to be American music rooted in the English Language.

When we speak of Nigerian rap music, there are names that come to mind. M.I Abaga, Ice Prince, Olamide, and False.

However, there are many talented rappers in The Nigerian Music Industry who are rarely known outside the borders of Nigerian. So we are here to reveal some of the Nigerian national rappers who are not international. In simple terms, these rappers are famous in Nigerian but not abroad compared to the names mentioned above.

1 A-Q

A-Q

Gilbert Bani, popularly known by his stage name A-Q, is a Nigerian rapper and songwriter. His single “Agu Ji Ndi Men” was nominated for Best Rap Single at The Headies 2016.

Despite the fact that he is big in Nigerian and has gained national fame, A-Q is not known to Ghanaians even to those who are lovers of Nigerian music.

2 Blaqbonez

Blaqbonez

Emeka Akumefule, known professionally as Blaqbonez, is a Nigerian rapper signed to 100 Crowns, an imprint of Chocolate City. In 2019, he was profiled by The New York Times as one of the new guards of Nigerian music.

Well, this is part of the information he has inscribed on his Wikipedia page.

As good as his profile is decorated; Blaqbonez is an alien to Ghanaians who love Nigerian music. Maybe it’s time he tries to make name on the Ghanaian market.

3 Ruggedman

Michael Ugochukwu Stephens, known professionally as Ruggedman, is a Nigerian rapper who is popular in Nigeria.

Very talented with his style of rap, he has fans rooted for him.

He has releasing albums like Thy Album Come, Ruggedy Baba, Ruggedman Vol. 1 and hits songs like Emi Ni, Ehen, World Chart Show, Club Rugged and many more, he has also won many awards like City People Movie Special Recognition Award, City People Music Throwback Hall of Fame Award.

He is also a Record Producer and owns his own Recording Label Rugged Records.

Sadly, he is not known in Ghana and we are tempted to say 2 out of 100 Ghanaians  hardly know Ruggedman.

4 Eedris Abdulkareem

Eedris Abdulkareem is a Nigerian hip hop singer. Born Eedris Turayo Abdulkareem Ajenifuja.

Eedris Abdulkareem is 47 years old rapper and we can consider him as one of the OGs of Nigerian rappers.

His career began way back in 1997 and he has been releasing records after records.

His albums include P.A.S.S (2002) Mr. Lecturer (2002), Jaga Jaga (2004), Letter to Mr. President (2005), King Is Back (2007), Unfinished Business (2010), Nothing But The Truth (2020).

Eedris Also has hit songs like Jaga Jaga part 2 (2012) single, ” Wonkere ft Fatai rolling dollar (2011) single, ” Sekere ft Vector (2013) single, ” Fela ft Femi Kuti (2013) single.

Sadly, we can boldly say no Ghanaian knows about his music career as a rapper.

5 Eva Alordiah

Elohor Eva Alordiah, better known as Eva Alordiah or simply Eva, is a Nigerian rapper, entertainer, make-up artist, fashion designer and entrepreneur. She is considered one of the best female rappers in Nigeria.

Eva has released albums like 1960: The Album, EVA, the, The GIGO E.P, Eva, The EP, R&Babymaker.

She also has songs like Relentless, Down Low, Tonight, I done Did It and many more.

The truth is Ghanaians rarely know there are Nigeria has female rappers in their music industry.

6 Mr Raw

Okechukwu Edwards Ukeje, better known by his stage name Mr Raw, is a rapper from Abia State Southeastern Nigeria. He is a pioneer of Igbo rap, a genre that now appeals to a broad, mainstream audience. Born and raised in Enugu, he gained prominence during the early 2000s rapping in the Igbo language and Pidgin English

The truth is, Ghanaians don’t speak Ibo language and we can partially consider language barrier has affected him to be known in Ghana.
